Can’t Compete with Chicken Legs

Well, this year’s Tour de France is leaving a bit to be desired. I’ve enjoyed the past years with Lance Armstrong. And I enjoyed last years with Floyd Landis before the fiasco with trying to take his title away. But this year has left me hanging. I’m still waiting for the US stars to show up. What a disappointment so far.

Despite all that, yesterday did hold a nice surprise at Stage 8. Michael Rasmussen, the Danish rider for Team Rabobank, had an amazing day as he blew everyone away on the second day in the Alps. It was a pretty incredible feat.

The funny part is they call this guy, “Chicken Legs“. And if you look at his legs you’d see why. They’re so skinny. But I guess that’s not where he actually got the name– though it should be.

Despite his build, this guy averaged 31 miles per hour to take the yellow jersey. 31! I was stoked yesterday to hit a new high on my ride. I hit 17.3 miles per hour. And I wasn’t riding through the Alps. Sad, huh?

It’s already that time of year again!?! Wow! I did not even realize it. I have been so disappointed with the A’s that I have completely been obsessed with them (but, when am I not, huh?).

Speaking of the A’s, they traded Jason Kendall yesterday. :(

Why does that dude look like he could be a jockey????

I have to admit I have not paid much attention to it while you’ve had it on…but I have an insane amount of admiration for those guys.

(oh…and do you really WANT to compete w/ Chicken Legs??? …:::shudder:::…)
    ;)

Chelle: I’ve noticed that. It seems like a lot of teams are going through a rebuilding phase. It’s sad, but I suppose inevitable too.

EE: He does look like it. LOL! Too funny! I definitely don’t want to compete with Chicken Legs. I think my legs look better :) But he is pretty incredible. They all are, actually.

that’s how Tom and I feel about this year too. Just kind blah. Luckily I work with some TDF fans at the hospital, so I get to watch it at work most days…

Mary: I have been traveling and haven’t seen the TDF in 3 days. I get to watch now (Saturday). I love the time trial stages. :)
