Man….you SUCK… ALL day now I’m going to have that dang Go Go’ song in my head. Goodness!

    #5,6,7 rock

    Great list!

  1. I know I’m bad EE ;) You’re paying the ultimate price for being my friend.

There are many songs I love and I could list so many. These are ones that I cannot help but tap my feet to even if just a memory of it comes to me while sitting in church. There are some who would love for me to feel guilty about it. But I don’t. I have many memories tied to various songs.

At least I didn’t list any songs from Metallica, Ozzy, or Dokken. That’s pretty much the bulk of what I would (or still) play on my guitar. ;) I simply love those chunky rhythms and vibrato fills. I can sit and play them for hours, just over and over again. Must drive Chelle nuts.

BTW, I like that #6 enough that I placed it on my phone and now alternate between it and CCR’s Down on the Corner.

  2. Yeah, and sometimes I have to, I mean get to, listen to them too. What happened to STYX?

  3. It’s definitely “get” to listen to them. Dennis DeYoung kept wanting to do all that theme ballad “stuff”. But they were a rock & roll band. You can’t lose your heritage. And he tried to change too much I think.

On the other hand, Rush has transformed themselves several times over three decades. Yet they remain friends and they remain fresh. Plus, despite the vast changes, they make the transitions seem more natural.

  4. “Some of them may be cheesy” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!! “May be” LOL

Ah, but now that I have my breath again, I’ll admit I like some of those songs.

Funny story, on Netflix I rented a DVD of a bunch of MTV videos that Def Leppard did in the 80′s. My intention was to introduce my daughters to some truly cool tunes…GAG ME!

You wanna talk about cheesy? Those videos were simply embarrassing. Oh, man. I really just sat there amazed that I used to think that stuff was the coolest thing going. My girls patted me on my head and went back to what they were doing.

  5. Gordan, I can totally picture your daughters laughing at you and giving you sympathy. Totally! ;)

I actually still like the 80′s scene. The outfits were outrageous, but fun.

Today’s music is too serious for me sometimes.

  6. I heart Snow Patrol. Have you ever heard of Kenna? The only album he produced was “New Sacred Cow.” I wear out a copy once every two months!

Bon JOvi and Journey are my favorites on the list.

After watching Bon Jovi perform “It’s My Life” on TV, I asked my husband why we didn’t have any BJ CDs in our million CD collection. “Because he’s gay, and I’m not a junior high girl!” That was sad. I LOVE Bon Jovi. But then again, I loved him as a junior high girl. It’s all about the memories . . .

I am reading Don’t waste your Life” by John Piper, and he stresses that we only hhave one life, and God wants us to live it to the full. The Bon Jovi’s lyrics came to mind, “I just want to live while I’m alive.” So I wrote those words in the book. Reading on, there was a quote from Spurgeon that said just about the exact same thing! Did BJ read Spurgeon? More evidence that “there is nothing new under the sun.”
There is a great movie with Bon Jovi. I think it may be set in NJ. I saw it on lifetime.

  7. Tink: I’ll take a listen to them. I do like sampling new stuff on my iPod. Thanks for the recommendation :)

JenM: LOL! I don’t know if he has read Spurgeon or not, but I do love Bon Jovi. Their Have a Nice Day album is great. I love listening to it more than their old stuff, actually.

And I’ve never been a Jr. High girl. However, I was taught to french kiss while listening to their music. Um… I probably should edit that out.
    ;)

Should have figured Tink would *heart* Snow Patrol! She’s one of the ‘cool kids’ ;)

And OMG…Dokken….TOTALLY forgot about them! They rocked!!!

  8. Of course they did. And she is ;)

Yep, keep me away from a guitar if I’ve got In my Dreams or It’s not Love on my mind. In my Dreams was the first song I ever learned to play. Followed by It’s not Love. But then I jumped over to Crazy Train. Pretty bad, huh? Eventually, I could just sit down and pick things out from listening. And I could read a decent amount of music. But that’s mostly gone now and I don’t know any chords, except by screwing around with finger positions. I can pretty much guess at them.

But I remember seeing Dokken at a Monsters of Rock concert. They were one of the opening bands, I think around 1987 or so. Dokken was up and they lost power. And there was George Lynch bobbing his head up and down, but no sound. It was pretty funny.
